  • clone a simulation

    hi,
I have this simulation https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mwQRhfuI5g4 and I want to clone it multiple times on my scene but I want to start on different times so they wont look identical.
Could you guys explain me the correct worklow? I am using corona8 for rendering.
and would it be better to export as alembic?
I'm using liquid, foam, and wet particles.

    Hey,

To Clone the simulation you can right Mouse Button click over the Phoenix Liquid Simulator and select Clone. When prompted with the Clone Options dialog, select Copy and hit OK - the copies should be named PhoenixFDLiquid002, PhoenixFDLiquid003 etc. (if you kept the original naming). Feel free to also copy any additional geometry that you need.
When you copied the Phoenix Liquid Simulator, a couple of new Particle Groups should be created as well. All you need to do is to include the new Particle Groups to the Particle Shaders' Systems lists.

As for the different start frame, you can go to the Input rollout and change the Timeline Origin for the copied Simulators. This option works like an offset specifying which Timeline Frame the starting cache will be placed on ( for example - if you set the Timeline Origin to 5, the simulation will start at Frame 5). Here you can find more info and examples about the Input options - https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4MAX/Liquid+Input.

    Hope this helps!
