  • Render liquid colors with VolumeFog

Is there a way to render liquid's color (Grid RGB) as Volume Fog using PhoenixGrid?
For example, visualize the flow of colored liquids in water.
(It can be expressed with Particles, but this time the question is whether it can be rendered as VolumeFog)

Even with Phoenix5, is there no choice but to use VRayEnviromentFog + PhoenixFDTexMap?

    Hey,

Is there a specific reason you wish to use Volume Fog, from what I can see it doesn't accept a texture input?

What you can do instead is use the Voxel Shader (available in Phoenix 5) and load the grid data from the Phoenix simulation and render the RGB data as smoke. You can find more on how the Voxel Shader works here - https://youtu.be/uO6E8YWpZNA

There are examples of rendering gas with various appearances with voxel shaders, but I haven't seen an example of rendering liquid data as smoke.

How to set after selecting Liquid Grid in Voxel Shader?
Fire is Disable, Smoke Color is RGB, Smoke Opacity is Texture(PhoenixGridTex)?

Of course, RGB channels are output.

        Yes, this is correct.

Note that if you use the RGB in the Grid Texture for the opacity it might produce funky colors so you might want to use a color correction map that takes the Grid tex as an input and has the saturation set to 0.

You can also check out this tutorial here. It shows how to use the Vorticity data from a liquid simulation and render it as smoke via the Voxel Shader - https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...le+with+splash

          Thank you for the information.

I'll try trial and error for a while.
