  • GPU preview camera exposure

How do you adjust camera exposure for GPU preview?
It doesn't seem to affect Phoenix's GPU Preview even if it goes through the VRay physical camera.

    Confirmed with 3dsMax 2023, V-Ray 6 and Phoenix 5

    Hey,

For the GPU preview you can adjust the fire multiplier in the Phoenix Volumetric Options under the Rendering rollout of the Simulator. This should be the closer thing to adjusting camera exposure.
Note that this will affect the rendering as well, not only the viewport preview.

Also, check out the Gamma Option in the gpu preview.

However, I would rather suggest you use V-Ray IPR gpu or IPR CPU which is also working in the latest Phoenix version. IPR GPU will not pause the simulation, so you can use it as a replacement for the gpu preview - while the cpu is busy stimulating, the gpu will render the fire and smoke

Is there another node or plugin that is affected by the camera settings in the viewport, btw?

Adjusting with The fire multiplier is not enough as it affects V-Ray rendering.
We hope to support exposure adjustment in GPU preview in the future.

Nice to see IPR support in the latest Phoenix.

Phoenix's cacheless simulation + low-res simulation + GPU preview has the potential to be used for real-time Fire and Smoke simulations that are currently trending.

Oh yes, my idea of IPR GPU not pausing the simulation while it's working is just that - being able to sim and preview quickly on low resolution
