  • Volume Brush

It seems Brush Effect % in Volume Brush emitter is actually on/off switch. If I have value 0%, there's no liquid. If I have 0.1%, it's full. Is this desired behavior?

As a workaround I have animated emitter volume scale. This way the volume can be filled gradually.

I need to check it, but for FLIP liquid simulations, either a particle exists, or it doesn't. The grids in the fire/smoke solver gradually change when Brush is used. We could create the liquid particles with a lower density and gradually increase the density, but until they reach 100% density, they would mesh as swiss cheese

Actually, what is the effect you are trying to achieve? Could you share a reference?

I was working with liquid simulation together with ryFlow. There's a container filled with liquid and particles. I was trying to create prefill for particles for more even distribution in the volume. So I start first with particle stream, then fill with volume brush and after that start the actual process simulation. There's continuous discharge on bottom and refill on top. Particles and liquid are coming from separate sources. Liquid is used for transportation of particles. I cannot go into details in terms of NDA.

Ahum, but how do you need the volume brush to affect the volume in this case? Do you need it to just fill up form bottom to top?

          Thanks for asking,

The filling would take too long and it would require extreme Outgoing velocity values. The system is much more stable if I use initial fill. The biggest problem with initial fill is uneven particle distribution.

Does it make a difference if you use the Initial Liquid Fill from the right click Phoenix properties instead of the source in brush mode?
