  • Too much distance ocean tex noise

    Hey all,

Is there a way to relax the PheonixFXOceanTex at a distance or based on geo? I'm getting too much distance noise when the product in focus is in very smooth water. Rendered in Corona with Corona sun. Very apparent at 34 seconds.

    Cheers

Yes, please check the Fade Volume and the Volume Fadeout Distance at the very bottom of this page: https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4MAX/Liquid+Rendering

I didn't want to start a new thread so thought I'd add to this.

I'm trying to use the Volume Fadeout Distance using a large mesh that is selected as the volume with a high fade distance. The mesh was set to visibility 0 so that it didn't render in scene but it didn't seem to have any effect on the water roughness where the ocean mesh sits inside the volume. I then tried with it visibility 1 but hidden and still no effect.

Am I using this correctly? I can't seem to get the ocean near the shoreline to reduce the displacement to reduce the noise when rendering....similar to the original posters issue.

        Hey Steve,

Seems to be working just fine here - are you using a closed mesh for the fadeout volume - like a cube or a sphere for example?

Hey. Yes, I managed to get it working. Apologies for not responding sooner. The falloff gets very large when you increase the distance. It would be good to have control over that I guess you can do the same thing with Vraydistancetex in a composite texture for the displacement for more control.
