  • Phoenix water sim crashed - is there a way to *resume* it?

I'm fairly new to Phoenix. Running an overnight fairly large water simulation, 3DS Max crashed halfway through. Checking the scene this morning, all the liquid sim up until the point of the crash is fine. Is there a way to resume the sim from the point of the crash (since I obviously didn't save it from that point).

    Thanks.

    Hello Robert,

You can restore the simulation from the last backup frame - by default this is every 15 frames. You can just go to the last timeline frame, select the Phoenix simulator and you can start "Restore" either from the Phoenix Simulation rollout or for them Phoenix toolbar.

If the scene is crashing consistently - make sure you're using proper shelled geometry (no single faces, no open edges) and you're using the latest Phoenix version. If it's still crashing, please send over the scene to the Chaos support team and we will take a look what is going on.

    Thanks!

Thanks Georgi! I wanted to make sure before I clicked "Restore" that I didn't wipe out all the previous frames. It did about 6 hours of perfect simulation before the crash, so I think the scene is fine. Probably a memory issue.
