  • Using Ocean sim as a cutter object for Volume Grid

    Hi,
could be there some way how to use Ocean sim as a cutter object for Volume Grid? Because ocean geo its just a displaced plane it doesnt work as a cutter object well, but maybe someone knows some way?
    Thanks

You could switch the mode to mesh and then extrude it so you got a closed volume and use it as a cutter object...

          Hello,

The cutter geometry needs to be a closed object and the ocean surface isn't.

          1. Exporting a standard mesh in Mesh Mode as alembic and using it as a cutter will work, yes.
          2. You can also copy the simulation. Make it non-renderable and switch it to normal mesh. Use it as a cutter. Leave the original, renderable copy as ocean surface.
          3. Use TyMesher to mesh the liquid particles as a closed object and use that as a cutter instead.

          Hope that helps. Cheers!

So in the end best way is to use distance texture pluged to smoke opacity with modulate on.
