  • Best practice for Archiving phoenix project

    Hey guys,

We're currently in the process of archiving our first project using Phoenix but we are curious to know if there are any best practices when Archiving a scene that included Phoenix. The reason I ask is because if we want to link the Cache files, using a script like Collect Assets" doesn't seem to work - it only saves the maps and not the cache files. Whatever we do, if we move both the max file and Cache files and then load the 3ds max scene up again (from the new location), the cache files are no longer linked. It means every time someone else has to access the file, they need to load the cache files in again which takes forever.

Perhaps I'm missing something but is there a way to package up a project (with the cache files) and have another person open it on another machine and not have them have to relink, load and wait for the cache to load into the scene file?

    Many thanks in advance guys!

    Hey Michael,

How are your caches setup in the Output rollout?

We have some macros that can be used so that the caches can be in a relative folder next to the max file and there shouldn't be any need of manual relinking. You can find more about the available options here - https://docs.chaos.com/display/PHX4M...BLEInformation
