visulise smoke in viewport when using an "empty grid"

i have an empty grid , im using a noise texture mapped to smoe to make some cheap "clouds".
is there a way to visualise this in viewport?

Sorry to say, that only cache files can be previewed.

that's a shame , could be very powerful
interactive rendering helps, but not quite same
