  • Phoenix cpu usage and network calcs

So am I right in thinking that this isnt implemented at the moment. Im only using 25% processor power on a 4 core machine...also I cant set up network calcs for the sim ?

Seems to me something that this programme is crying out for on both accounts !!

really, the network simulations are not available at the moment
about the CPU - the simulation is multi threaded, but the interaction with the scene is not. "pure" simulation, without animated/moving objects should reach about 60% with the current version, and about 70-80% with the incoming service pack

Ok thats good news. Do you think sims with moving objects and networking calcs will be something that will come ?

Also, how long until the sp ?

well, the networking is really a complex task, because the simulation (unlike the rendering) has each-to-each dependence of the all the grid cells.
about the interaction with the max scene - some parts can be accelerated, but some parts are hanging on the max and we can do nothing. at the moment the most expensive operation is the applying of a space warp force.

        regards,
        ivo

ok. well, at least there will be performace increase when the sp comes out. Most of the sims im trying to do with Phoenix are object animated so that would really make a difference.

Would it be a possibility to have special warps for phoenix use that are multithreaded eventually ?

technically is not a problem, bot is a lot of work. another option is to overwrite the existing ones and to use only their UI parameters.
