  • Using PhoenixFD with DMM

    Hi,

I found a sample scene(phx_pillar.ma) how to use PhoenixFD with DMM. It is working great but it is not easy to figure it out.

Do I just need to connect outputSurfaceShape to phxsource_set1 using Relationship Editor? Is that all?
And I am not sure why there are two phxsource_set(phxsource_set1 and phxsource_set2) just for 1 phxsoure?
One more thing, why do we need to set animation key for SPF Lower Limit?

Is there any tutorial for that or could you give me a help with a simple tutorial or description to make it?

Thank you for all the nice new features!!!

    Best Regards,
    Sangho Jung.

Edit: I think this is a wrong place to write about V-Ray for PhoenixFD Beta. Sorry about that.

I've been digging into the scene and almost got it.

    Simulator:
    Object Velocity -> Per Vertex

    Source:
Discharge Modifiers->source: Speed and Position Y

But I don't still understand why there are key animation for SPF Lower Limit and why there are two phxsource_sets.

    Thanks once again!!

Yes outputSurfaceShape must be connected to the phxsource_set1. Check out the help, there is some short description for each sample. This sample is really more complicated. It uses per vertex velocity to detect when the individual parts are moving and emit smoke based on their speed. There is a special check box to make DMM start with splintered object. You must not forget to turn it on.

phxsource_set2 is duplicated by mistake, ignore it.

I've increased the SPF Lower Limit, to have smoother smoke traces of the pieces. Phoenix doesn't do enough steps for them. But otherwise the SPF Lower Limit must be as low as it can. The alternative is to lower the advection step. And this is probably the better way to go, and I will probably revisit this example.
