  • Multiple containers

    Hi all,

So I met with some of the guys from Chaosgroup in stockholm and they suggested the use of several sim containers for large scenes. This would enable larger cells in the middle of the ocean, and more resolution say around a boat.
Does anyone know how to setup this with liquids?

Since simming usually requires selecting the container, which one do I select when i have several? Is there any setup or linking required?
I didn't get it to work off the bat. I had either a sim in the one or the other container.

it's a hard task. i think the only part you need to simulate is the boat wake. the rest of the ocean you can do with a general purpose sea shader, but the really hardest part is to blend the wake simulation and the rest of the ocean.

      Thanks Ivaylo,
It was actually suggestion from Simeon Balabanov to use several containers overlapping in the same sim, but I couldn't quite figure out how to do it.

The workflow you suggested also sounds good, I just don't see how to get the edges of the wake sim to smooth out.

you can search for solutions for any water simulator, they all work in limited area and this is a common problem.
