  • Best way to do tyre burnout ??

I checked out this link: http://cgcookie.com/max/2012/01/05/t...-with-fumefx/#

But this uses fumefx. I'm assuming I can do something similar with Phoenix 2.0 but I'm having problems getting the smoke to cling to the tyre.

The animation I am producing has to have a car wheel spin from a standing start and then the tyre eventually grips and the car moves off.

    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards

i tried to reproduce it with phoenix, and it seems to work, the smoke clings to the tyre. use advection settings 100/1/1 when trying to to follow a fumefx tutorial.

Thanks for that. I'll see if I can get the results I want using those numbers.

That seemed to work well. The animation has evolved somewhat now and I need to just have smoke appear when the car wheel spins. It does a couple of wheel spins with the handbrake on so the car is still and then on the 3rd go the car wheel spins off.
Is there a way to only create the smoke when the tyre spins and the lower section is creating the friction ? Probably quite a complex solution I can imagine...unless I fake it I guess. In which case how do I time the Phoenix smoke to come on and go off at various frames and have it dissipate like normal smoke rather than feed itself ?
I've looked in a lot of different places but can't find how to do this..

At the moment I've got particles birthing in sync with the tyre motion. I cannot seem to get a good sim which is consistent throughout the animation. Also, the smoke sometimes just seems to grow and grow and fill the entire block. I'm really just learning Phoenix at the moment so could really do with some help.

Here is a link to the file I'm working on: LINK

            Hello there,

I have downloaded and tested your file - but unfortunately I couldn't see smoke in the simulation.
I don't know if it was worked on your side - but on my side it behaves very odd.
I have reseted all the settings in the simulator - and create a new simulation with a completely new settings.
            Here is scene file.

I have also tried to sync the smoke with the wheel - but with a single simulator this is not very easy to do.
I think would be better if you are using a second simulator for the firs two wheel rotations.
I have added a wind force , and changed source object to "inject" mode.
