I noticed there's no installer for vray 1.5 - which we're still using, unfortunatly.

Is there a list anywhere of the features we miss out on by installing the scanline version and rendering with vray?

now you can render liquids with the scanline version too
    however, you can't use
    - foam and splash refractions/reflection
    - heathaze
    - fire as vray light (but point lights are used instead)

we will consider the possibility to release builds for VRay 1.5

Is the point lights being used as firelight an automatic thing that flickers with the fire?

And can I light smoke with vray lights fine, even though it's scanline?

I think we can get by without heat haze & i always do foam/splashes as a separate pass anyway.

yes, it flickers with the fire, actually this is an old feature, the new extension is that the point lights are replaced by vray lights when vray is used. see here how it looks like. with point lights you have to use big count of them to avoid the sharp shadows, that makes the rendering slower.

Excellent, I can live with that
