You can check out tomorrow's nightly build for a couple of fixes related to motion blur:
* The incorrect velocity render element at the extended part of the simulator - was breaking with motion blur together with rendering from a moving camera.
* Incorrect velocity render element inside the grid when there is no velocity channel output from the simulation.
Now, the lack of detail seems to be caused by low resolution - even though the grid is pretty big itself, the camera is looking at a part of it that is no bigger than 200x200, so this is almost as much detail as you can get. You can probably squeeze a little more by playing with the wind speed and decreasing it a tiny bit, the Level of Detail param will also help, as well as the velocity coherence can also perceptually affect the visual detail of the waves. If you compare with the submarine sample, the grid there is 300 cells wide and it has proportional detail to your result. Hope that helps
