  • work flow -generating mesh and particle export

    Hi

i am evaluating phoenix for commercial use could someone help me with the work flow (perhaps a pointer to a tutorial?) for getting a frame by frame mesh of the liquid (that we can edit) and access to the particles that phoenix generates & what software we may need in addition to max vray &
phoenix (i imagine we need Krakatoa but not sure if particle flow will work)

to be specific- i am concerned that we can get in and 'tweak a mesh' or delete particles etc - rather than just keep re doing sims when we want to make small and specific changes

    thanks in advance

    Hi,
about your concern regarding the mesh tweaking, you have the opportunity to stack modifiers on top of the PHXSimulator, and in this way edit the shape of the mesh (you can use for example relax, turbosmooth, bend etc). If you want to use Edit Poly modifier you have to bear in mind that the changes you make to the mesh will only appear in that particular frame (previous and consequent frames won't adapt to these changes).

you can use the Gizmo option in PHXFoam to delete particles (everything that is inside or outside the gizmo will get deleted).
you can also delete them by size, age or position (above, under water).

regarding the rendering, V-Ray works great with Phoenix FD.
if you find it necessary you can render them using Krakatoa as well.

I am just beginnig with Phoenix but yes you can add modifier but only in mesh mode (in the rendering tab). the isosurface (which looks a lot better) can't accept any modifier but you can use the gizmo on it to cut parts.

You can look what problems I have with the isosurface and meshs when trying to simulate chocolate pouring on cookie:
