  • Dual CPU Question

    Hi,

I'm sorry if this is a very obvious answer I just want to make sure and not assume.
I'm trying to justify getting a Dual CPU machine at work, this would be pretty much double the power of my current i7 cpu so I just wanted to ask if this would essentially half my simulation times as I would have more cores?

EDIT: Also, are you able to network simulate with Phoenix (Only to 1 pc), similar to Fumefx's backburner mode?

    Thanks
    Hayden

in the most cases one processor with 16 cores simulates faster than two processors with 8 cores.
about the network sim - phoenix is not able to send simulation task to remote computer, for now we do this by simple remote desctop. we are planing to introduce such a system with automatic parameters variation

Thought that might be the case for network simulation, thanks.

Right now I have a 12 core cpu. I would be looking at getting 2 x 12 core cpu's (each the same speed as my current cpu).
The cost is quite a lot so I need to be able to justify this. Which is why I was hoping this would cut simulation times in half.

better get one cpu with 20 cores, and much better fast ram and hdd
phoenix works intensively with the ram and it's the most critical part.

Thanks so much for that information, it's really really helpful. Will go do some research now on what would be the best cpu to get.

          Thanks
