What is the "Grid Gizmo" and how to use it?

Hi!

I'm using the nightly builds where in the "Grid" section a new parameter is introduced: "Grid Gizmo". I'm wondering if that has any use for now and if so how to use it? I think I've read about it somewhere in the forum. Will this get rid of the visible pattern when filling objects?

Hi, the idea of the grid gizmo is similar to the render gizmo - you take a closed geometry with normals pointing outwards, assign it as a grid gizmo, and the simulation will run only inside this object. The rest of the cells will be frozen as if a solid body was covering them.

This way you could fill irregular shapes with liquid, or generally speed up your simulation by chopping off empty cells when you have an irregular fluid shape, e.g. a rocket launch (won't save you any RAM though).

PS: It won't get rid of the grid artifacts when rendering - that's currently the render gizmo's job.
