  • Render Element - Phoenix for Maya

    Hi,

What do I need to switch on in order to get the velocity pass to work with my simulation.
I have switch the velocity in the output section.
I can currently see the splash and foam in the RE but not the liquid.

On the other hand, my liquid is present in the Zdepth pass but not my splashes and foam. Would the option Geometry mode in PhoenixFDFoam, be the solution?
It crashes my render when I switch it on.

    Thanks,

    Yannick

Can't reproduce any of the above. If you are using old build, you can try with some rencet one. If this doesn't help, can you send the scene to the support? Basically, only the simulator/a cache file is needed. The Foam shader has a section called Render Elements. You don't need geometry mode to get z-depth.

      Hi,

I am using a nightly from the 12 of June. So fairly recent.

Are you able to provide me with a simple scene that has the velocity RE working?

      Thanks,

In fact, it's old . Get something from the last few days to be on the safe side .
Here is a scene that is working with the last builds:

          Hi Ivaylo,

Thank you for getting back to me.
In your sample scene, there isn't any liquid.

My current problem is that I do get the velocity pass for the foam and splashes but not for my liquid.
I am wondering if I am missing something (like an option I need to turn on).
I have attached my scene. it is a simple river with wave and a object gets dropped. I can see the sphere in the velocity pass but not the liquid.

Can the displacement be seen in the velocity pass?

Can you try with the last build? Also, what VRay version are you using, since I'm testing with VRay 3.0 here?

                Hi,

I can't use the last build at the moment. As I need IT to update it.
These are the version I am using:
                Phoenix FD for Maya 2014, version 2.2.0 from Jun 12 2014, 05:31:18, revision 24651
                V-Ray for Maya version 2.30.02 from Sep 9 2013, 23:19:44
                V-Ray core version is 2.00.01

Are you able to show me the result of the velocity?

                Thanks,
