  • pfd simulator/rendering/displacement 'fade out level'

    Hi guys,

Interested to know what this new parameter is. Thanks!

well, if you let the displacement to affect the entire simulation, you will get strange splash and waves, the displacement must affect only the steady liquid surface. we achieve this by decreasing the displacement with the distance to the ocean level, this parameter controls the height where the displacement disappears at all. it was hard coded to be 20% of the container height, but some customers complained that this is too high, that's why this parameter was added.

Very nice! To have control of that will be a bonus. Thx very much.

Sweet! I remember that I´ve been one of those customers complaining about that effect a while back...Now I just need another project where I need the ocean to try this out...

i have to warn you that the future of this parameter is not clear, seems like it does not resolve the problem completely and very probably will be replaced by another technique that involves velocity related criteria.

Hehe, I don´t mind how it is being dealt with, as long as it is being dealt with...and I´m in no hurry, there aren´t THAT many projects in our pipeline that need large scale ocean sims...
