Hey guys, I'm very new to Phoenix (for Maya) and had a conceptual question - naturally there is a time crunch (when is there not?) and unfortunately that means I can't play around and discover as much as I'd like... which is typically how I get acquainted with new software.
My scene is basically about simulating a large object (car) breaking the surface of the water and sinking down towards our camera, which is looking up at the surface from the bottom of the river bed.
Is the best way to do this using an ocean surface? Or a full liquid volume with the camera embedded in it?
Most of the underwater effects will be emulated in After Effects, but the hero effect is clearly the big splash from a large object hitting the water.
Just looking for a place to get started so I don't chase too many rabbits! I've been doing some pretty successful dust emulation stuff from an early shot involving a car crash, but no real water volume shots until now.
Thanks!
I'm on Phoenix 2.2 nightlies and Maya 2015
