  • Svetlin's PCG test

    Loving the look of this!

Any info on things like Phoenix dimensions/grid scale and overall scene unit scale etc. Would like to try recreate

    Thanks

    Hello,

Glad to hear! Here's the actual scene, originally for max 2015, also saved for max 2012 for backwards compatibility:

    http://docs.chaosgroup.com/download/...ocket_2012.max
    http://docs.chaosgroup.com/download/...ocket_2015.max

Remember that the algorithms are still undergoing changes, so even with the latest nightly the scene might not simulate exactly the same - also, as you notice, there are some render artifacts that need fixing too

    Cheers!

Thanks Svetlin, shall have a look. Could you explain what the PCG is doing differently to other methods?

      Thanks

Sure - PCG is best used for smoke/fire sims and it makes the smoke roll much better than the older methods, so you will have visible mushrooms forming and vortex rings rolling much longer in time after the initial force has acted.

Also, it helps keep shapes more symmetric - it will work better for nukes or spherical explosions, which might become more elliptic with the older methods.
