Does anyone know how to re-create this kind of thing ? I'm assuming phoenix may be the way to go.

about two years ago i tried such simulation with the old core, you can see the result here
the main drawback is that the mist in the old core does not involve the air into the movement, the flip core does it and hopefully can produce better result.
