Because of a limitation in the amount of threads in Windows processor groups, Vray is currently limited to 64 threads per instance.
Does PhoenixFD have this limit for simulations?
I see ... Is there any way to circumvent that limitation? In Vray for example its possible to add an instance of a DR spawner (at the expense of twice the memory usage). Or is it possible to request a build that is enabled for more than 64 threads, like we can with Vray?
even if you can use 1000 threads, there will be no acceleration at all. simple 16 core cpu simulates much faster than the data storages can handle and the bus can transfer, depending on the simulation setup you hit either the ram speed limitation or the hdd speed limitation. if you want to setup a simulation station, ssd drives and the fastest ram that you can find, this is the correct way, the cpu is not important.
