  • Updates to the new PhoenixFD version

I have just started using PhoenixFD. But for several reasons, I am using the official 2.2 version from May 2014.

Reading this forum, it seems like "everyone" is running a nightly instead. As I understand there are quite a few changes underway, including a different solver for liquid simulations. It sounds really exciting. Is there a list of changes that are planned for the next version to indulge those of us that cannot use nightlies? To see what we can look forward to I mean
And also, is there any sort of expected release date?

Unfortunately, we can't really give out the release date outside ChaosGroup.

The new features list is quite extensive - we don't have it compiled in detail at the moment, but in general, as Ivaylo mentioned in the other thread, there is a completely new FLIP liquid simulator with additional tools for creating waves and ocean foam, there is a new model for attraction forces, path follow force which applies to both liquids and fire/smoke, and also there is a new the fire/smoke solver, new vorticity with twice more detail, re-timing using resimulation, and lots of smaller stuff as well.
