  • Surfwaves ?

Is Phoenix waves counting the bottom contour/depth in the algoritm ? Would it be possible to set up a beach with a shalow reef ( Like Pipeline Hawaii ) that makes the waves break, or a pointbreak ( Like Malibu La ).

I have tried but get very mixed result. I´d love this feature in the future Hang loose...

    Hey,

You mean the Wave Force? You should be able to get any kind of terrain to break waves - you can find this scene attached in the forum https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsMFjtFJlgA

    Cheers!

Yes I mean the Wave force. But I mean does the shape of the bottom for example 5 meters out from the beach effect how the waves are breaking ? The way "pipeline" kind of wave are breaking ?

any geometry inside the simulator's box affects the sim, still not sure what you mean.

          I guess you´re not a surfer

In real llife wind produces swell that travels towards land. And based on the bottom close to the shore the wave will look different. In my example link the wave travels against a point and break sideways.

Is it possible to produce waves like in the link ?

Example 2: Lets say wave force produce a big round wave traveling towards shore, woould it rise and break, if the bottom quickly get shallower ? even tho its far from the beach ? ( Hard to explain..... )

well, i suppose the waves will appear properly, of course only if the bottom is covered by the simulator's box.

One quick test would be to simulate big round waves that doesn´t rise, and then rise the bottom and se what happens. Or do you think the waves are only on the surface and dont react to whats underneath ?

they react definitively , the waves will behave as expected
