  • You know, this software has come a long way.

I've been using phoenix fd since version 1, but since I don't do enough vfx to make it a full time gig, I was never really that good at phoenix. I had a hard to getting it to do what I wanted, or really just understanding what it is that I was trying to do with it. I managed to use it for vfx for a couple games that shipped on steam and for some viz stuff at various studios. (We made a flipbook png for UDK3 using it, and it was pretty cool, 60 frames of loopable animation over 4 channels.)

But these new source types and forces are really impressive. After a few mixups (on my part) with initial fill up, I was able to make a realistic river with nice splashes in very little time. Thanks for continuing to refine PFD and making these updates service releases instead of new versions. I'm pretty excited about the direction phoenix is headed. Can't wait to see v3.

    Best,
    AJ

    Same.
I have messed with phoenix for a couple of years muddling my way along but with the recent nightly i was able to complete a fluid shot for a drink TVC i landed in one day (i come from a non technical arch vis background)
my other option was outsourcing it to an insanely expensive fluid sim freelancer....
very happy with phoenix however i would like more documentation and examples (and happy to pay for them)
