I finally have some time to really dive in to PHX and was trying to get the PHXTurbulence working but the doc's say nothing on how to add it to the scene. Do I have to link it to the simulator somehow or just drop it in and it will affect everything?

Just put it in your scene and it will work.

Yup. If you Don't want it to affect a certain simulator, you can add it to its Exclude list in the Interaction panel - otherwise it will affect every simulator in the scene automatically.
