  • Particles going outside sim box problem

Upgraded to PHX 3.0 and used the toolbar -> ocean sim quick setup. Was very happy with result! But when foam leaves the simulation box they stack on top of eachother and create some wierd looking ribbon patterns.

Also, the ocean quick setup set the scale of my PhoenixFDLiquid001 to 0.43235 which seemed kind of random, so I set it back to 1.

Any idea what could be wrong?

Interesting. Is this how the particles look also when rendered? Might be a bug we have to look at.

Otherwise, the Quick Setups modify the scene scale so that a preset simulation behaves the same way regardless of the units you use, so the value is generated depending on your current unit scale and the size of the emitter object. The guys here on the forum also found an issue where the wave velocity of the ocean preset might be too fast in animation, so you might want to check the PhoenixOceanTex in the material editor and turn it down if it's not working well for you.

    Cheers!

the particles change their behavior outside the box, because there is no water to disturb them, they behave like in perfectly still water.
you have to arrange the scene with this in mind, to make it less visible, you can make the grid bigger in this direction, this will make the waves and vortices reaching the border less intensive and therefore the foam will behave almost like outside the box. the camera position also must be arranged with this in mind.
