  • PhoenixFD Ocean tex question

Is there a way to map the Ocean tex on to a sphere?
I have been trying but it only seems to map on the top and bottom

there is no way to map ANY flat 2d texture on a sphere, it's direct consequence from the hairy ball theorem, imagine that the "hair" is the U mapping axis and you have it.
of course it's possible to make special ocean texture for spheres, but currently is not implemented.

Hmm... What about a tri-planar approach or camera projections?

@Ivaylo - I think Houdini can generate the waves directly on the surface of a curved object; it doesn't actually map a 2D texture.

Other than that, the VRayTriplanarTex texture will probably work.
