  • gas explosion

Hi is there anyway to have room filled with gas and then create an ignition source in the center and then see how fire just travels from the center through out the whole room. We can make explosions local but we want them to expand and travel. For example, fill the tunnel with gas and light one side and then see how fire travels all the way to the other end of the tunnel. is it possible?

And if you have a simple 3ds max example scene where gas ignites and travels through the tunnel that would be great!

    Thank you!

you could maybe look into filling a space with fuel in one sim, then taking the final frame of that and loading it as the first in a second sim that features your spark point quickly jumping to 3k degrees. it might work?? dont quote me though.
I just did a test with fuel spitting out for 50 frames then a spark lighting it. dont know what happens when the sim is 100% fuel though.

Thank you! We got it working

By the way can we render fuel as visible gas?

Absolutely - you can use the Fuel channel as a source for the fire, the smoke color and the smoke opacity in the Volumetric Settings.
