  • Velocity from a bitmap

    Hi,

I saw this tutorial a while back and wondered if there was any way to emulate it in Phoenix?

    https://vimeo.com/52099566

(Basically uses Twixtor to generate motion vectors which are then used in Particular to control velocity)

I can see something in the Maya help files about a motion vector color set, but not sure if that's it or has an equivalent in Max?

    Cheers

    Hey,

You could use the Mapper helper in order to drive the velocities by the texture. However, if the texture is 2D, you need to figure how to map it into 3D so that it wouldn't look weird.

Once you have the velocity field set up, you can use a regular source to generate particles or grid channel that the velocity field will mix up.

    Hope this helps,
