  • Resim Timebend with Geometry moving

When starting a resim with decreased playspeed (slow down method), what is best to be done with the animated geometry that has been driving the smoke simulation in the cage?

-Slow down the animation to identical playspeed?
-turn it off/hide all geometry that could possibly affect the Resim?
-or can I ignore it at all for Resim?

If you don't need it you can just hide it.

      Hey,

For the Slow down method you still need the geometry. For General-Purpose you can hide it.

If you are in Max, you can rescale the time, unless you have animated frame index where it gets complicated.

Thanks for the response. I almost thought so, because of missing geometry for resims created issues in the past.
In this case I did animate the frame index, say from slow to very slow to slow again. So if I get your answer right, this means I'd need to adjust the speed of the geometry's animation accordingly to make it fit in time. The best solution I can think of is a world point cache, where you can also animate frame index. Maybe I can simply copy or intance the animation curve. Well, I'll see how this goes.

So far I was only pushing keyframes (scaling keyframe selections in the timeline so it fits the timebend of the sim). This worked quite well with a new speed of 20%.

Now I wonder, do the same rules apply to forces? Let's say I have the strength value of a plain force linearily increased in the base sim. I suppose this animation need to be adjusted to the slower speed of the resim slowdown as well, before I run the resim operation, right?

Ah, forces do not matter - sources and obstacles must be there, but forces would not be taken into account.

Great! Thanks, this makes things easier now.
