    Does anyway we can get volume ray by casting light on phoenix smoke?

        Well, yes, sir. That's exactly what happens in the example picture above. It's made with Phoenix.

                Hi,

                There you go! Just simulate 1-2 frames and render. See the curve in Volumetric options. That's how volume smoke is created. One more hint: to produce nice rays you must use small and bright light source otherwise light would get diffused and illuminate the whole volume evenly.

                    Yup, these would be the Fire, Smoke Color and Smoke Opacity rollouts - unlike in 3ds Max, in Maya these are not under a floating dialogue named Volumetric Options, but are stuffed among the rest of the Simulator's rollouts.
