  • Liquid is more like oil and not like water

Hi We have a car wash scene and water that is on the ground moves and looks like oil (mercury) and not like water. I just have a couple of question:

    1. Do i need wetmaps enabled to create water friction. Our renderer cannot render wetmaps so STICKY effect wont even work for an actual water mesh like it did in phoenix 2? It seems like water glides like it has no friction.

    2. Do i need to use surface tenstion for this scene. If yes what are the best setting for strength, droplet break up and droplet radius

    3. currently sim box is the size of the whole inner part of carwash and it has 70 mil cells and SPF is set to 6. is it too low therefore water looks like liquid metal. ?

    Thank you!

Indeed, you just need wetting for that effect. Even if you won't render it, it will change the behavior of the liquid in the desired way. Just make sure to have 'Consumed Liquid' set to 0 so it won't start to disappear.

You can add a tiny bit of surface tension, but it's needed for small scale scenes - it would make the liquid in your scale look unnatural. Mercury has high surface tension, so if you don't want the liquid to look like that, don't increase these settings or even keep them at 0.

    Cheers!
