  • Using .vdb as start frame of a sim

We've made some clouds in houdini that we are super happy with the shape of, got them in max rendering nicely and want to have an object interact with one of them.
I may be missing something, but I cant find a way to use a .vdb file as the initial state of the grid? I read about resimulating over the top of a .vdb sequence to add detail and new channels, but that assumes the simulation has already been completed and doesnt work for a single frame as the initial state. I know you can use an initial state with a .aur. how can I convert between them?

I think it would be an hour of work getting the Load & Start function work with vdbs or f3ds. Let me see how it goes and it would be in tomorrow's nightly if there are no unexpected issues.

Okay, make sure to check tomorrow's nightly Note that the imported vdbs will be fitted to the simulator size and resolution you and will have flipped Y/Z axes.

      Cheers!
