Maya Phoenix Heat Haze

I know Phoenix can generate a heat haze map. I already went through the doc but I just don't know how to get it. Can you please give me a sample scene ?

Can we have a separate pass for the heat distortion? We rendering our scene with Clarrise but I still want to have the heat distortion from Phoenixfd.

Hmm, would something similar to the Refraction render element of solid surfaces help you?
