  • Flying propane tank settings

Hi does anyone know best settings to get similar results for a flying propane tank We tried everything it is either long line like a jet or using buffered conservation makes flames almost disappear half way. Not sure what is the best way for dynamics and fuel, SPF. Thank you

In this video to the right of the fire you can see a flying propane tank.

looks like motion inertia fixed it by setting it to 0.2 from 1. Not sure why I have to do it I thought 1 means fire travels with the same speed as tank so all my physics are correct

    UPDATE:
fire looks very unnatural with inertia lower than 1 . So if anyone know would be great! Thank you

Hmm can you show a shot or a video of how it looks?

      Cheers!

we are trying to get fast flames coming out but get flames that move slow

anyway to have propane to comeout fast like this https://youtu.be/bwqk8kw4ado

I just cannnot get right settings in fuel tab like depletion propagation energy or best dynamics settings. Do you know what are the best

Also flame dies with higher FPS and if propane tank flies fast with buffered mode flame can just dies after 20 frames or so

HEre you can see a video where flame just goes out for no reason And each tiny delay for each movement equals one frame What makes it loose flame. And when the tank is flying you can see flame touches the tank. Air suction i guess

Here is another update. When propane travels through stationary large grid flames look good. But when grid is attached to propane tank they can disappear, get too large and just change dramatically frame to frame no matter how many SPF are added, changing intertia to less than 1 makes it look fake . Might be a bug

Strange indeed - sounds like an issue with burning and moving grids. Is there a difference between adaptive and fixed moving grid? Sounds like it would be best if you can send the scene over.

              Cheers!

I will. We only tried adaptive. Thank you

HEre is the scene . If you increase SPF to 6, flame can just go away. It still looks way different than if the propane tank flew through a stationary grid. You can just unlimk it to see how stationary performs Thank you

Thanks! Checking it right now. Looks like there are huge velocities generated inside the sim that put out the flame.

Seems like this happens only with the Buffered conservation. You could work around it by changing the conservation type for now - direct symmetric should do the trick and should not be affected by the SPF this much.

Thank you Hopefully you can fix it. It acts a lot different in a stationary sim

                        Hi,
