  • Adaptive Grid - Grid threshold

    Hi,

I had a fire and smoke in one sim. I'm kinda confused about Adaptive grid and Grid threshold. Base on what I know is you need to enable Adaptive grid and leave the XYZ boundary open to have the simulation auto reside base on Grid threshold liquid/temperature or smoke. I just don't know when to you temperature and when to use smoke. And what is the safe number for your grid keep expanding when the temperature or smoke close to the boundary. Can someone explain that more clearly?

    Thanks

    Hey,

Usually you should set the adaptive channel to Smoke, unless you don't have smoke in the simulation at all. Temperature cools off and dissipates more quickly, so smoke should be a better choice. The lower you set the threshold, the easier the grid would expand. The threshold value of X means "adapt the grid if a voxel has at leas X smoke in it and moves towards the end of the grid and is going to exit it during the next simulation step which".

    Hope this helps
