  • Particle Shader scale by age

    Evening!

    Just wondering if I can plug a pflow event directly into the PHX Foam and have 'bubbles' scale down over time (the pflow event already has the an absolute scale set to scale from 100% > 0% by particle age, over 20 frames ). The PHX Foam Size: PA doesn't seem to respect the animated particle size.

    Hey, sorry for the late reply! I seem to have it working here with the waterfall preset with enabled size and age output for the splash and foam particles. You know the drill, right? Once you enable the PA, you animate the size as if the timeline represents the lifetime for each particle, so you animate the size from 1 to 0 over frames 0-20, this means that each particle will be born with a size multiplier of 1, and 20 frames it will shrink down to invisible, no matter at what frame the particle is actually born.

    Maybe you have a more exotic animation for the size? If none of the above helps, please drop me a scene and I'll check it ASAP

    Cheers!

      Ah ha. thanks Svetlin. I was thinking it would take the scale from the particle flow scale (it is setup to do the exact same thing scale down over 20 frames per particle) Thanks for clearing that one up.

        Ahhh, you mean you don't have a simulation at all - it's just a pflow system and the Particle Shader does not read the scale correctly. I gotta check that, I was looking at the PA for a simulated Phoenix particle system.

          Hmm, I got it working here:
          1. Create a default Particle Shader, only switch the mode to Bubbles
          2. Create a PF Source, connect Event 001 to the Particle Shader.
          3. Render 001 -> Type = None
          4. Birth Emit Start = Emit Stop = 0, Amount = 10
          5. Plug a Scale operator after Shape 001, Auto Key at frame 20, Scale Factor = 0 - The bubbles are not scaled down at any frame
          6. Scale 001 -> Type = Absolute - Now it seems to be scaling the bubbles down properly.

          If you got all these steps covered and it still works fishy, I'd love to have a look at the scene - we gotta make sure the pflow intergration is working flawlessly
