  • Speed up bubbles rendering - Any tips?

    Hello,

I am having a hard time rendering this scene because, even for a single frame like this one, render time shoots to the roof (36+ hours/f) when I try to render with bubbles. So it is becoming impossible to render the animated sequence.

Are there any settings on the PHXFoam shader that I could try to help speed up the render?

    Thanks.

    Hey,

Light cache and Light Cache speedup should help. How many particles do you have? Can you share the settings of your Particle Shader?

    Cheers!

Look at the light subs (should be no higher than 8 + use progressive. If ya using vrlight with directional option - tune cut-off.
I just can't seem to trust myself
So what chance does that leave, for anyone else?

        Hi Svetlin,

I tried Light cache and Light Cache speedup but did not noticed any improvement.
Foam particle count is around 29,339 and my PHXFoam shader count multiplier was set to just 0.1 on my test render.
I just lowered the count multiplier to 0.07 (as seen in the attached image) and changed the subgroup to Above Water to try and set 2 different PHXFoam shader, one for the particles above the liquid and other for the particles under the liquid (rendering as points) to see if I can get faster render time but still render time is too high and points don't look nice either under the liquid.

        Hi Paul,
My light settings are pretty much default.

        Thanks

          Hey,

Try setting the Light Cache Speedup to 0.99. Also, try reducing the Bounces to 1. However, I really don't see a reason for such horrible render times.

If this doesn't help, would it be possible to send the scene over to Support?

          Thank you!
