  • Fluid particles spawning inside solid objects

    Hi,
I have an issue where I try to fill upp an irregular shape with water. I figured that using a cube as a volume brush would allow me to "set" the water level by rising it up. everything outside my shape is inside geometry that is set to solid and has "clear inside" activated. And the simulation clears out all active particles that end up on the wrong side just fine, the problem is that they are still allowed to spawn on the wrong side. So I end up with a large cube of water travelling up on my screen. I did try using a Confine geometry as well but with exactly the same result.

Really what I'm asking is: Is particles supposed to be able to spawn inside of a solid surface or outside of a confine geometry?

I'm using Maya 2018.2 and phoenix version 3.10.01 nightly

    Regards,
    Lennie

    Hey,

Indeed, it's not supposed to, but that does happen currently and hopefully we'll get to fixing it one day soon

I think this is what you need for initializing the liquid volume though - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...ith+Containers

    Cheers!

Yeah I've been looking at initial fill, what I really need to do is alter the water level over time according to very specific measurements from the client. The section that I need done is a very small part of a much larger system and in order to not have to simulate the entire system I am hoping for a shortcut where I can raise the water level without shooting in water from the sides.

I'm glad to hear that it is a bug tho Hopefully that some day soon is really soon

      Thanks
