Hey fellow simulators...
I was wondering if you could share your workflow when doing R&D...
Right now mine looks like this:
1. Gather reference.
2. Try and understand the basics of what is going on physically
3. Run a lot of pretty lores sims (maximum 1 mill cells) for around 5-20 minutes, watching directly in the viewport and tuning settings accordingly.
4. Depending on how much time I can spend, just use the best guess for a hires simulation over night.
5, rinse and repeat until I get it right...
I only recently started submitting jobs to backburner, when my workstation was occupied with other stuff, so I was wondering if it would be smarter to kind of just send a whole lot of simulations to the farm over night and have them all render after sim.
I´d have to meticulously track in an excel sheet what settings I changed per sim and save all sims with specific file names and name renderoutputs accordingly, so I´m not sure if the setup time would be worth the time gained by not watching the sims life in the viewport,,,
I´d also be interested in other hacks you might use...for example I liked the idea of the static cloud tutorial, where they just decrease the scene scale a lot, to get faster to the endresult.
