  • Max crashes with Foam Particles

    Hi I am in need of help I have a sim thats 160 frames long and I can get it to render the foam particles all the way up to 125 frames and then my max scene crashes. I was wondering if there was a limit on particle count when rendering? Im am trying to render 300 million + foam particles in the scene is that to many? once the render trys to calculate the the foam it crashes instanly. I have a lowes res version of the same sim that rendered fine but this was a final high res sim I was doing. Is there anything I can do? Gris size is 1123x282x1210 cell size.04m cell total cell size is 745,191,040

    Hey,

    Can you tell us what version V-Ray and Phoenix are you using? Is it possible that you run out of RAM?
    Even if you run out of memory there should be no crashes.

      Im useing vray version 3.50.04 and phoenix version 3.10.00 Im pretty sure im not running out of ram I have 128gb of ram to work with and I dont think its getting close to that

        Is it possible to try with a newer V-Ray version and latest nightly for Phoenix?
        We did quite a lot of fixes since the version you are using came out.

          Unfortunately I can't download the nightlys or get a newer verson of vray at this time what is the current version of vray that is out is it a free upgrade? If so I can talk to my software people about getting it.

            You can get V-Ray 3.60.04 as a free upgrade - you should be able to log in on the Chaosgroup site and get it from the Download section.
