  • Volumetric render artifacts/flicker

    Hello,
Any Idea why I'm getting this flickering in some frames of my render?

    Thanks.

    Hey,

Is this setup based on the Ink in Water toolbar preset? How are you producing the RGB? Is there a grid texture involved?

    Cheers!

      Hi,
Is not based on a preset. The RGB is from the grid output. Smoke color set to texture: PhoenixFDTexmap (if set to RGB I get a lot more artifacts on every frame)

Hmm, and does it only flicker when your play speed is not 1.0 or regardless? Also, are there any drag particles, or is it only a grid-based simulation? And finally - does it happen with Linear sampler selected for the rendering rollout and the grid texture?

Its only a grid-based simulation. I think it has to do with the play speed. I am rendering a new sequence with play speed at 1 to see if the flickering goes away.
          Thanks.

In this case it's most important to simulate the original sim with the velocity and advection origin channels exported, so you can use the Precise Tracing method to retime it. Check this page for more info on all variants: https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...Time-Scale,etc.

            Cheers!
