  • Smoke does not render in IPR? (3dsMax)

Just to be sure: Doesn't smoke render in IPR?
I only can see it when I do a production render...
    Thanks

    Hey,

If it does not render at all for you in IPR in Max, then maybe you are using a very old V-Ray. What is your V-Ray version?

With a latest Phoenix and a latest V-Ray Next, IPR GPU in Max should show the smoke, and also IPR CPU will work only in Volumetric Geometry mode. I am working on Volumetric mode for IPR CPU for fire/smoke currently, and in the Phoenix nightlies the Phoenix Particle Shader can already render with V-Ray CPU IPR in Max.

    Cheers!

      Hi,
thanks, I think it is all about a month ago installed. (how can I find out which vray version I am using in 3dsMax?)

This is an old tutorial file about smoke, maybe that has also to do with it.

But anyway I will soon update everything once again.

Hey, the V-Ray version is in the render settings window, Settings tab, About V-Ray rollout.

Does switching to Volumetric Geometry mode show anything in the CPU IPR render?

Great, yeah, this was the trick, it worked!
          Cheers

          p.s. I have looked:
using Phoenix v4.00.00 (not the latest) and VrayNext 3.1 (4.30.01 build 00001)

Yess, so stay tuned - there will be IPR CPU with V-Ray Next in Volumetric mode soon as well
