  • Backburner not running simulations anymore

    Hello guys.
I´ve been using Phoenix and a network simulation license. Simming via backburner has always worked finde where now I am getting error messages. The only thing I had changed lately is updating to the latest Phoenix release (on all machines, for sure).
Attached is the error message I am getting within Max when trying to send the simulation to Backburner (I have already tried to setup goups and also send the job via the Backburner manager´s PC name instead IP - both does not change the error messages)

    Thanks,
    Martin

    Hey,

Could it be that the installation didn't went through porperly. Does it help if you reinstall Phoenix and try again?

Can you tell us the Phoenix version and the Build ID - here is how to find them - https://docs.chaosgroup.com/display/...entEnvironment

    Thanks!

      Hello Georgi,

installers did install all smooth and well (on all machines), (Phoenix also runs well and also renders well on all my machines after intsalling the latest version lately - it is only the backburner issue)
I do have Version 4.30.00, Build ID 20200912 installed on all the machines.

      Please advice, thanks,
      Martin

Just a wild guess, but does it happen on any scene or just this one?

What if you make a sphere, add a fire preset, then adjust the Output location and you try to run the Backburner sim?

          Hello Georgi,
I did try a new scene with a simple fire setup: and the network rendering works fine with Backburner. So the issue must be scene related.
I am using 2 fires (explosions) in the scnee that has teh issues - could this be a reason? Any other ideas?

          Thanks,
          Martin

Hmm, could be connected. Can you check the Phoenix log on the machines right after the backburned problem occurs, and even attach it here? You can find it in C:\PhoenixFD

I can see that you have tyFlow in your scene - does it help if you remove it just for the test (remove all of the tyFlow nodes in the scene and try to send the job to Backburner)?

Can you send over the scene so we can check what is going on? You can attach it either here or send it to the chaos support email if it is confidential.

              Thanks!

So I just tried simming teh scene again via Backburner: And now it does work! I ahve no idea why (it´s exactly teh same scene as ysesterday - nothing changed).
Maybe it had to do with setting up this simple testscene and network rendering it succesfully?

However: Thanks for your help on this Georgi, I am glad things are back to full functinoality,
