  • scharge and Smoke masks are super slow

HI all. When I apply a map to either the discharge mask or Smoke Mask, the simulations slows down considerably. Maybe 10-20 times slower. The Discharge Mask is the slowest of the two. The map works as expected but the sim time is unrealistic.

    Cheers

    Hey,

Are you using Max or Maya?

Which version of Phoenix do you use?

... and very importantly - what kind of a map do you apply? Some textures are a loooot slower than others, and if you are using a network of several textures, this might also be slowing it down - Phoenix has to read this texture per all affected voxels.

Ah, also - how many voxels do you have in your grid?

    Cheers!

Hello Svetlin. I am using Maya 2019 and updated to 4.3 of PFD. I am using a single map. Around 327000. The speed is affected regardless of the resolution. Thanks

Sounds correct, can you send the scene over?

THere seems to be a limit for file sizes and it's currently around 8MB

Oh, if it's such a large scene, please either share it via google drive, dropbox or a similar sharing service, or send it over to support from here (the limit is 100MB): https://www.chaosgroup.com/help/cont.../scene#options

Thank you. I have sent the scene file via your link. The scene is minimized to contain only the necessary elements

Ah, could it be that you're using Phoenix without V-Ray installed on the machine?

Without V-Ray the texture sampling will be quite slow indeed.

So just grab a V-Ray build (just a trial will do - you don't need to buy a V-Ray license, you just need the files installed), install it and your scene should simulate a lot faster.

                  Hope this helps.

                  Cheers!

Hi Georgi. That correct, I don't have it installed. I shall get the trial and install it. I'm glad there's a likely solution!!! Thank you guys for the support!!
