  • Installation issue with v-ray 5 and viewport doesn't show simulation

    Hi!

When I installing Phoenix FD 4.30 for 3ds Max 2021.3 with v-ray 5 hotfix 2, in the bottom appears a message saying that v-ray 5 instalation was not found. I clicked continue and everything went apparently fine (the exception being that in the V-ray GPU additional files the field being empty).
Opening 3ds Max and trying to simulate fire, nothing shows up in viewport. However, when rendering everything goes fine.
What can I do to solve this?

Hardware: laptop, i7 generation, 32GB RAM, Nvidia GTX 1050

    Hey,

Is there any chance you installed V-Ray 5 somewhere other than the default location?

Would it be possible to send the Phoenix log from C:\PhoenixFD after you load 3ds Max, simulate and render?

    Cheers!

      Thanks for the swift answer!

No, V-Ray 5 was installed in the default location.

I uploaded the log from a simulation made a few minutes ago.

Hmm, everything looks fine. I suspect that something might have went wrong with the Windows registry preventing the V-Ray GPU/standalone plugin to be installed. Can you try reinstalling V-Ray 5 and the Phoenix FD again?

I also suspect the viewport issue is unrelated - the same dll that does the simulation also does the viewport preview. Can you show me how the viewport looks and screenshots of all the Simulator's rollouts?
