  • Speeding up simless smoke from texture?

I'm trying to do some simless clouds using the method of moving the smoke curve up slightly above 0 and the fog indeed renders fast like a dream, especially with denoising. But when I use a texture to modulate the noise, it renders super super slow. Any tips for speeding it up? Since I"m iinside the voxel grid flying through it, i get some pretty large voxels when light cache speedup is turned on, so i turned that off, with obviously more render slow downs. I'm on Max 2021 and Phoenix 4.3

Hey, if you turn off the Volume Light Cache, try regaining some of that speed by enabling Probabilistic Volumetrics from the Phoenix Atmosphere. You have to iterate on the samples though - too low samples will render slow, and too many samples will render slow as well, so there is a perfect number for each different scene somewhere in the middle.

    Cheers!
